In terms of history, getting attention works differently for guys and girls. Most often, women in the media get lots of attention for being sexy. Think of Playboy, Maxim and all the mags for guys with naked girls in them. Can you name any female equivalents? There's been a lot of talk about what this does to young girls. Thanks to Xtina, Brittany, Li'L Kim and the rest, they're walking around wearing not much. Remember how Brittnay and Xtina looked when they first came out? Like Daddy's little girl from next door. And now? They act like porn stars. Anna Kournikova poses for Playboy. Why? It's what they do to sell records - to work on their image. That's a problem because young girls think they should dress up like their pop idols. This creates problems because men can treat them as sex objects. But what about how it affects guys? The usual argument is that it encourages young guys to treat women as sexual objects. Okay, but it does something else too. It treats men like idiots - as if they're supposed to lose their minds the second they see a naked girl. Think of just about every beer commercial. If the sight of a naked woman is meant to instantly make the male audience buy something, they don't have much respect for the average guy's mind, do they?
